LICENCE AGREEMENT
The agreement you use it under.
Twelve clauses in plain English. This is the contract between you and the person who wrote the software. The terms of sale cover the purchase, which is a separate contract with the payment provider.
BEFORE THE CLAUSES
One point that has to come first.
Two copies of this licence exist, and they differ.
A copy of a licence notice also ships inside the installer, as a file called LICENSE.txt. Where that file and this page differ, this page governs, and where a difference could be read two ways, the reading that is better for you is the one that applies.
This matters because the notice shipping in version 2026.9.16.3 is not the text below. It forbids copying outright, and it forbids reverse engineering outright. Two exceptions in European law cannot be signed away by contract, so parts of that older wording were never enforceable against you in the first place. Clause 08 below says what the position actually is. Replacing the file in the installer is on the list of things to be finished before the first sale.
THE AGREEMENT
Twelve clauses.
01
Parties
This agreement is between Binse Analytics, a registered business in Ireland, whose address and registration details are on the legal notice, and you, the person the licence is issued to. In this agreement, we means him and you means you.
It applies to Binse and to every part of it: Data Flow, Dashboards, Diagrams, scheduled runs, the engine, the formula language, the tool palette, the visual catalogue, the shape libraries and diagram templates, the sample data, the icons and the user guides. The software is his. This agreement gives you the right to use it, and nothing more than that. Binse Enterprise, a separate edition in development, is not licensed under this agreement.
02
What you may do
You may install and use the software for as long as your licence is current, for any purpose you like, including commercial work for clients and employers. There is no restriction on what you may build with it or who you may build it for.
You may give anyone a dashboard you have exported. An exported dashboard is an ordinary HTML file. The person who opens it needs no licence, no account and no seat, and is never counted or charged. The same goes for anything you write out to CSV, Excel, Parquet or JSON.
A licence covers one user. Two people sharing one licence is the one thing this clause does not stretch to, and the team rate on the price page exists so that it does not have to.
03
Computers, the computer code and activation
The software identifies a computer by a computer code, which looks like BIN-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. It is a one-way hash of the Windows machine identifier. It cannot be turned back into that identifier, and renaming the computer or signing in under a different Windows account does not change it. Reinstalling Windows does.
A licence is activated by entering its licence key on the licence screen, which ties it to that computer's code. The software then confirms the key online with the service that issued it, in the background, about once every 7 days while it is in use. It sends the key and an identifier for this computer, and nothing about your work; the security page and the privacy notice set out every field. If the software cannot confirm the key for 30 days, it asks for an internet connection before Data Flow, Dashboards, Diagrams and the scheduled runs screen open again. A licence file issued by hand is checked on your computer and needs no connection.
Installing the software again, or repairing it, on a computer that already holds the licence costs you nothing. Release this computer, on the licence screen and in the footer of the home page, Data Flow and Dashboards, gives a computer's place back so that the key can be used on another. If a computer is gone before its place was released, write to support@binselytics.com and we will release it by hand.
04
The licence year, and what happens when it ends
A licence carries an end date. Once that date has passed without a renewal, Data Flow, Dashboards, Diagrams and the scheduled runs screen stop opening at the software's next check, and each one shows the licence screen, or a page that sends you to it, instead. The software makes that check as soon as the end date has passed and the computer is online. A computer kept offline goes on working until 30 days after the key was last confirmed, and no longer. There is no read-only mode.
What does not stop is your work. Workflows, dashboards, diagrams, schedules, catalogues and reports live in your own Documents folder as ordinary files with ordinary names, and the uninstaller is written so that it never removes them. Exported dashboards keep working on any machine for as long as anyone keeps the file, because there is nothing in them to expire. Anything written out to CSV, Excel, Parquet or JSON is a file like any other.
We are not holding your work against a renewal, and the file formats are the proof rather than the promise.
05
Updates
Every version released during your licence year is included, at no further cost, and your existing licence key works with it. There is no separate maintenance charge and no upgrade price.
Version 2026.9.16.3 has no automatic updater, so an update is something you choose to download from this site and install over the old one. Nothing checks for a new version behind your back, which is also why nothing can nag you about one.
Security fixes are treated as ordinary releases and are described on the changelog with the date they shipped. We will not promise a fix inside a fixed number of days, because a promise of that shape would be a guess. We will say what is wrong, and when it is fixed, and we will not wait for a convenient release to tell you.
06
Changes to the software
We may change the software during your licence year for a reason on this list, and for no other reason: to fix a defect or a security problem; to keep it working with Windows, with a data source, or with a file format whose own interface has changed; or to comply with the law.
A change of that kind costs you nothing extra. If it removes or materially restricts something the site said the software does, we will tell you in writing before it happens, and you may end this agreement free of charge within thirty days of being told, with the unused part of your licence year refunded.
Adding something new is not a change of this kind, and neither is fixing something that was plainly broken.
07
What is yours
Everything you make with the software is yours: workflows, dashboards, diagrams, schedules, catalogues, reports, formulas, exports and the data itself. We claim no ownership of any of it, and no licence over any of it.
None of it is sent to us. It stays on your machine or goes to the warehouse you pointed the software at, and we have no way to reach either. What the software sends, and when, is on the security page, and what personal data is involved is in the privacy notice.
08
What you may not do
Without our written permission, you may not sell, rent, lend, sublicense or otherwise pass on the software, your licence key or your licence file to anyone else; you may not rebrand it or pass off a changed version of it as ours; and you may not remove or defeat the copyright notices or the licence check.
This clause does not restrict anything European law says a contract may not restrict. Nothing in this agreement stops you doing what Articles 5 and 6 of Directive 2009/24/EC allow, and Article 8 of that Directive makes a term that tried to do so null and void. In particular you may make a back-up copy where you need one for your own use; you may observe, study and test how the software works in order to understand the ideas and principles behind it, while you are running it as this agreement permits; and you may decompile it where that Directive allows decompilation to make it work with other software.
If you want to do something the first paragraph forbids, write to hello@binselytics.com and ask. The answer is a person, not a form.
09
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise that the software does what this site says it does. Every counted claim on this site carries a receipt naming the file that was read or the command that was run, and the date it was run, so that the description can be checked rather than taken on trust.
Nothing in this agreement affects your statutory rights. If you are a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2022 gives you rights about digital content that we cannot exclude or reduce, and this clause does not try to. If something is missing or broken, the Act decides what you are entitled to and in what order, not this page.
Beyond that, there are things we do not claim. The software has not been audited by anybody. It carries no certification of any kind. It has been run on the one Windows build it was written on, and the oldest Windows version it will work on has not been measured. The site records that as an open question rather than answering it. It is not sold as fit for a purpose you have not told us about, and it is not sold as being free of defects, because no software is.
10
Liability
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited. A consumer's statutory rights come first, and this clause is subject to them.
Subject to that, our total liability to you under or in connection with this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for the licence year in which the claim arose.
If you are buying as a business rather than as a consumer, the consumer protections referred to in clause 09 and in this clause do not apply to you, and this limit does. Check your own backups and your own results before you rely on them, as you would with any tool.
11
Ending this agreement
Your right to use the software ends when your licence year ends and is not renewed. You can stop at any time by cancelling the renewal and uninstalling; the terms of sale say how, and what that means for money already paid.
We can end this agreement early only if you break clause 08 and do not put it right within a reasonable time after we have written to you, told you plainly what the problem is, and asked you to. We will not end it for anything else, and we will not end it without telling you why.
When it ends, you stop using the software and remove it from your machines. Your own files, and anything you exported, are unaffected, and clause 07 continues to apply to them.
12
Law, courts and the rest
This agreement is governed by the law of Ireland and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, that does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a case in the courts there.
If a court finds one part of this agreement unenforceable, the rest of it stands. A delay in enforcing something is not a waiver of it. This agreement, together with the terms of sale and the description of the software on this site, is the whole of what is agreed between us.
This agreement is written in English, and English is the only language it exists in.
ABOUT THIS PAGE
This page was written in plain English by the person who wrote the software. It is not legal advice, and it is not a solicitor's work. The legal notice, the terms of sale, the licence agreement, the privacy notice and the accessibility statement are all pending review by an Irish solicitor, and that review has to be finished before the first sale. If the review changes any of them, the changed page is republished and the date at the top of it changes with it.
