binse: Diagrams & Floor Plans · iPad
Floor plans to scale, flowcharts and a whiteboard, on an iPad.
The diagram canvas from Binse, made for a finger and Apple Pencil. Walls that join and rooms that know their area, flowcharts whose lines find their own way, and a whiteboard for thinking out loud. It needs no account and no connection, and the drawings are ordinary files.

01 · Floor plans
Floor plans drawn to scale, and measured as you draw.
Walls that meet cleanly at the corners, doors and windows that cut their own openings, and rooms that work out their own area. Pinch in close to a counter, out again to the whole floor.
Walls, rooms and real dimensions
- Walls with mitred corners and T-junctions, at the thickness you set.
- Doors and windows that cut their own openings in the wall they sit on.
- Rooms that know their size: each finds its own area and perimeter, and says so.
- Units and scales: millimetres to miles, and the drawing scales plans use: 1:50, 1:100 or a quarter inch to the foot.
- Dimensions that stay attached: linear, aligned, angular, radius, diameter, arc and area.
- Precision when it matters: snaps, rulers and guides, and lengths and angles typed in.
- 47 libraries drawn at real size: kitchens, bathrooms, offices, shops, warehouses, events and gardens.
- Quantities and costs from the plan, and DXF files in and out.
A plan you can hand to someone
A studio office at 1:100: four offices, an open studio and a kitchen, every room labelled with its area, dimension lines along the walls, a scale bar and a north arrow.
02 · Diagrams
Diagrams of every kind, with lines that find their own way.
Tap an arrow beside a shape and the next one appears, joined up. Move anything and the connectors route themselves around what is in the way.
What it draws

- BPMN, with a check and a simulation
- DMN decision tables

Lines and layout that look after themselves
- Connectors that are straight, curved or square-cornered, routed around shapes, with jumps where they cross.
- Labels, waypoints and arrowheads, and flow that can be animated along a line.
- 19 automatic layouts to tidy a whole diagram at once, from trees to layered flows.
- Layers, frames and containers, with layers that can be hidden, locked or left off the print.
- Styling in depth: gradients, patterns, shadows, a hand-drawn look, and themes in light and dark.
03 · Whiteboard and Apple Pencil
A whiteboard, and a pencil that knows what you meant.
Sketch a box and it becomes a box. Write with pressure and tilt. Then gather the room's ideas on sticky notes, sort them and vote.
- Ink: a pen that thins with pressure, a marker that widens with tilt, a highlighter and an eraser.
- Sketches that turn into shapes: 10 of them, from a rectangle or a diamond to an arrow, a tick or a star.
- Palm rejection, and the eraser on the Pencil erases whatever tool is in hand.
- Sticky notes in six colours, with authors, tags and votes, and a way to cluster and sort them.
- Workshop tools: kanban boards, timelines, dot voting, polls, estimation, card sorting and a timer.
- Tables that take CSV in and give it back, stamps, and washi tape for the fun of it.
04 · Start from something
Never a blank page, unless you want one.
- 220 templates in 134 categories, each a finished example rather than an outline.
- Save your own as a template, to start the next one the same way.
- 7 theme presets, each with a light and a dark version.
- A first look around that points at the shapes and the properties, once, and then leaves you to it.
- A user guide in the app, and the whole app in 7 languages.
05 · Files and formats
Ordinary files, in and out of every format that matters.
Saved as you go
Drawings live in Files and iCloud Drive, open where they are, and save themselves a moment after each change. A newer copy from iCloud is picked up by itself.
Out, in 32 formats
PDF, PNG, SVG and DXF, PowerPoint and Word, Visio and draw.io files, BPMN and Mermaid among them, through the share sheet. Or print it.
In, from 39 formats
Visio, draw.io and Excalidraw files, Mermaid and PlantUML, SQL tables, an org chart from a spreadsheet, and infrastructure described as code.
Offline, entirely
The editor, the templates, the shapes and the guide are all in the app. No account, no server, no connection needed.
A window for each diagram
Each diagram can open in a window of its own, and the app works in portrait and landscape alike.
A keyboard when you want one
139 shortcuts, menus with the iPad's own shortcut list, and a command palette to find anything by name.
